I have an elderly relative who is looking to place some US Dollar as well as Sterling funds into an investment that offers some yield and if possible, some growth, without a substantial capital risk. Does anyone know of any funds that can be accesssed (maybe DOW or Nasdaq linked?) that offer some upside, but have capital protection in place (if not 100%, then at least partial - eg. no loss of capital if index doesnt drop more than 50% from entry level). Also, are there secondary markets that can accessed by smaller investors into these instruments, as can be done in the UK?
