Thanks again for all the advice,

I think going forward it might be sensible to take out a SIPP, as I may put some shares in there in the future, or buy some other funds.

Companies like aegon and SW or L&G etc. don't seem to offer a vast array of funds within their pensions offering, So to get access to a lot of the funds on Citywire selection I take it I would have to take out a SIPP anyway??

The next question is, if i'm going ot buy funds and some shares in a SIPP, which would be the cheapest? I looked a couple of weeks ago and Sippdeal seemed to be? compared to HL

Its a shame all the sipp providers levy charges in completely different ways, makes it really hard to compare for us simple folk.

Thanks :)

Hi,

There are lots of threads on Citywire mentioning the various charges.

Bear in mind the costs at the end for setting up drawdown etc etc etc.

I am with HL, and think I maybe could find cheaper, but not inclined to move at present.

I think they charge 0.5% pa with a maximum for sIPPS, free to trade funds, £11.95 to buy and same to sell shares, 0.5% pa for holding shares in sIPP.

Platform fee on megacheap funds (£1 or £2 a month).

Shop around, but look at all of the small print. I find also if i mention a particular charge to HL, they quickly tell me what the opposition charge for the same thing.

All of these costs are less than pension firms like Aegon (which was bailed out by the Dutch Govt a while ago - did you know they are not a Scottish as they used to be??- Dutch in fact)

Hey, you can always move later on. When i moved to HL they paid the penalty fee to the previus firms for me. And you get a posh pen set.

Good luck
