We’ve made a few important changes to Citywire Money which you will see reflected in some new tabs on the nav bar at the top of this page.
Welcome to The LollyFirstly, we’ve launched a new area of the site for people who are new to saving and investing called
‘The Lolly Beginners' Advice’.
We’ve been conscious for some time that we could do more to help beginners and novices through the bewildering maze of financial terms and products.
To this end we’ve started to publish a whole series of guides and financial tips to encourage people to take charge of their money.
There might be a lot on The Lolly you might want to show your friends and family.
Why 'The Lolly'?We thought long and hard about the name. Basically we wanted a catchy title that would appeal to people beyond the normal Citywire constituency. Hopefully, The Lolly will help us break down a few barriers and reach more readers who need to hear our message about saving and investing.
If you want to know more about The Lolly and who it is aimed at you can watch this
video I've made.
Funds and SharesThe good news for existing Citywire Money readers is we have made it a lot easier to find your way around our investment data and content.
The rather baggy ‘Investments’ tab we previously had has been replaced by two new tabs on the nav bar:
‘Funds’ and
‘Shares’.
Funds data and tipsIf you hover your mouse over ‘Funds’ you can now find our ‘
best investment funds’ page much more easily. This enables you to see two important things: firstly, the funds recommended by our independent
Citywire Selection team, and, secondly, which fund managers have earned our exclusive Citywire
performance ratings.
Also displayed is the weekly ‘
Fund of the Week’ video and a wealth of data on
unit trusts,
investment trusts and
exchange traded funds to help you do your own investment research.
Shares data and contentSimilarly, under ‘Shares’ you can find the
Citywire Top Stocks® page, the weekly ‘
Stock of the Week’ video and daily share price data on
FTSE 100,
FTSE 250 and
FTSE 350 stocks.
New Money ToolsA new ‘
Tools’ tab has two more goodies you may not know about.
First, there is our exclusive
Adviser Finder tool, which will help you locate a professional and trustworthy IFA. Yes, they do exist!
Secondly, this is where you can find our ‘
Best Savings Accounts’ tool. Powered by Moneyfacts, it shows you which banks and building societies offer the best cash ISAs, fixed rate savings accounts and so on. It’s not strictly exclusive, but it’s different, as we have no commercial interest in whichever account you may go on to open. That’s why we’ve plastered the thing with a ‘No kickbacks’ logo.
Where are Smart Investor and Dumb Investor? You can find both our popular but anonymous Smart Investor and Dumb Investor columnists under the new ‘
Opinion’ tab (previously called ‘Comment’). This is also where you will find comment pieces by the Citywire Money team.
The Portfolio and My Account tabs are unchanged.
Hope you find all this useful. As always, please let us know what you think.
