As soon as a hosepipe ban or drought order is issued it usually begins to rain. This year doesn't seem too different in that regard than 1976 with the hapless Denis Howell (Minister for Drought).

I'm not convinced that water should be supplied by private companies. It's rather like charging for air. Also don't the big bosses earn millions for running water through a pipe?
It's not exactly a competitive business.
Also their record on fixing leaks isn't impressive.
IMO the "industry" should provide grants to install domestic water butts and double flush option toilets.
People should be encouraged to shower once a week rather than once a day to cut back on water usage.
Same with changing and washing one's underwear.
Rising energy bills will probably sort out such extravagance.
In the 50s most people had a both once a week in a tin bath.
No one noticed because everyone smelt.

As regards bathing, I think it depends on what happens to the water afterwards. I've started saving it for toilet flushing.

Apparently water in London is drunk 8 times.
Surely they should therefore only have to paid for it once?
Once is consumption, seven is reuse.
Tip of the week to save water and money: go bald or have your head shaved: you will save on water bills and expensive shampoo.
In Ireland people are paid to use water.

Tremendous appointment.
The day afterwards it started raining.
And didn't stop for 3 months.
Presumably he stuck feathers on his body and did a rain dance.
