recently opened a santander easy access account paying 2.75%
accessed online banking, tried to transfer out 16k to another of my accounts; account blocked
cue laborious discussions with their fraud dept; account unblocked, tried re-sending payment whilst fraud guy on the phone, unsuccessful again, account blocked......

He then makes the payment & I try again myself for 4k transfer whilst he still on phone, unsuccessful, account blocked

raised complaint, offered me £20, I was offended (after 2hrs of my time)
closed the account, basically because it was becoming clear I wasn't going to be able to transfer it as I wished, without having to phone their fraudy guys every time

If I didn't know any better, they've already dished my money out & dont want me withdrawing it......

Consumers want recompense when it all goes wrong. Allow more time to transact your business when large sums are involved.

£4000 is a large sum, when the fraud guy is on the other end of the phone?
I'll put it down to their systems needing an hour or three to update/sync, otherwise their desire to hold your money in these troubling times

I had problems with Halifax when they brought out 3D authentication.
My debit card wouldn't work.
I contacted them by letter several times and their response was, sending me a leaflet referring me to the ombudsman for compensation if I was dissatisfied with their response.
I contacted them again telling them I wanted my problem solving not compensated.
After I sent them more screenshots of their ineffective authentication protocol, suddenly my card started to work but Halifax wouldn't claim responsibility for the card not working.
Everyone's fault but theirs.

We should return to the world of barter and abolish money and banks. Would make life simplier.

You hear about people falling for these scams and wonder how they can be so gullible . Most of them involve transferring money to a new account in order to " keep it safe " . How silly is that ? - if money needed to be moved in a hurry , the bank would do it themselves .
Then the customer blames the bank and expects compensation . Banks must be paying out millions every year , it`s hardly surprising that they are bringing in more security measures .
