Mrs H is very fond of NS&I IL Certs so we seldom sell any.
An exception can be to buy BTL or similar, of which again Mrs H is very fond.
Who am I to argue !!

We call them 'Giraffes' for simplicity, to avoid confusing in discussion with IL Gilts,
since the early advertising featured a Giraffe standing on a chair peering into the distance
with the slogan 'for those that take the long view'.

An under-performing Asset in the years held, but coming into their own of late.

Sums it up perfectly. Sold mine many years ago. That's life.

Reminds me of Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven, 'deserves got nothing to do with it'.

If I was to list all the sources of unfairness in the world this might be two thirds the way down.

People with much more money than me presumably bought much more at the time. Is that unfair ?

If I was going in to bat on this, I might first query the size of the ISA allowance ( thanks George) or the annual pension contribution limit. However I'm not so I won't.
