I have someone who repeatedly - several times a week - is getting a phone call saying they have subscribed to Amazon prime - press 1 to renew and 2 to cancel. .

We are getting these calls frequently of late, slightly different, Prime being renewed,
but to press a number for assistance.

Slightly off balance and confused we pushed a number to find out what on earth was going on,
a rambling conversation followed. With the offer to 'help sort out the problem', the penny dropped
and we rang off.

Hopefully we are now off the 'mugs' list' and the stream of calls will cease.

Would pushing that number create ramifications ?

I had repeated emails asking me lo access a web site.

I became so irritated that l clicked on it.

It asked me to enter my first name. I entered: f**k
It asked me to enter my second name. I entered: off c**t.

I then exited.

I now get emails: hi f**k, how would you like….
Or Dear Mr. Off-C**t, have you tried…

At least I know how they are from and can ignore.

You have "added value" to your number by showing it is a real live number and one owned by a private individual who answers the phone to strangers and engages with them. You might find you get calls from new strangers who have bought a list of higher quality targets (indirectly) from your current pest.
