I started about 6 years ago and while not long enough time to be considered an experienced investor, and like you I dabbled with active/passive starting out, I would just go global tracker if starting again tomorrow.

Not recommendations but 60% of my ISA at a now 6 figure value is Fidelity Index World P Acc.

SIPP opened since is all passive, again 50/50 Vanguard VEVE (Global Developed World ETF) / US Equity Index Fund. In Vanguard SIPP.

If goin all passive I honestly see no difference or very little between passive funds so you could do all of this on Vanguard, ISA and Junior ISAs.

Wifes's ISA on Vanguard, 50/50 VEVE & Lifestrategy 60 giving an 80/20 Equity/Bond portfolio.

Good luck!

Benefiting hugely from this thread as similar to the OP. 39, 3 kids, married. Plan is to stick £200 into something each month. Work pension already set up and fine as is. Rather than a sipp I'm looking at a stocks and shares isa. My plan is a global tracker. Is there any update on the cheapest/most cost effective platform please?

Plan is £200 per month contributions. No stocks or shares, no chopping and changing.

Only other q is whether I do just me, or £100 me and £100 in one firbthe wife. Gut says just one in my name to avoid duplication of fees. Any guidance much appreciated.

Thank you

Investengine is probably the cheapest if you want to just use a simple ETF Tracker, as it would be zero fees. And you can now setup a monthly savings plan.

But Monevator has a great set of comparison tables that have just been updated,

regards splitting depends on your own situation and like you say any fees you may pay.
