If that's what you think, you clearly haven't been paying attention.
It's not based [naively] on recent growth, which almost no-one utilises in their forecasts.. It's based on far more sophisticated models, such as:-
Metcalfe's Law
Stock-2-Flow
Power Law
Gartner Hype Cycles
Total Addressable Market
On-Chain Analytics
...&tc.
And no-one claims that any one model is correct.
