Problem of not wanting magnificent 7 in the fund, almost invariably under performed!

Can you ignore past performance and buy?????

I pondered this one a few years back. The M7 were everywhere. I wanted USA but not the big boys as I had enough exposure. I wanted world too.

I ended up with NAIT and MYI. Works for me.

If memory serves me - and ITs are on the table (which it looks like they are) Brunner might be an option - Microsoft is the only one - all be it the number one position.

Microsoft is what Gasoline is to the energy industry - a utility company.
Sure it has investments in future advanced tech but that is part of the peripheral growth boost
It's core, and where it generates revenue and cash flow has moved from innovative tech to a staple in modern society.

That logic is what led to their exclusion from FANG stocks some years ago.
However given the business model looks very little like the past (take a look at the types of services that make up Azure revenues and sectors driving growth) and look at their subscription model and you will see a very different story.

Moreover, given they are charging a large uplift for Co-pilot (their version of ChatGPT in their Office and Windows products, as well as within Dynamics and GitHub for coding - their future earnings look quite different to 20 years ago.

Doesn't mean their price doesn't look toppy, but to make a generalised assertion is rather weak.
