Some wild trading today with the SP flying then falling back again.

The market is running short on stock. More and more of the trading is in the auction and there are shorts with open positions they can't close easily. When only 2m traded in the day there are some with 15 days volume as a short

I have a reasonable number fron the 60s and some more from 81 with a 79 stop.

Results likely to be stellar. Highly leveraged as a lot of fixed costs... once they are covered it is all on the bottom line

We could be getting ready for some excitement

Cheers for the update. I see the last bit of company news picked up by HL is their “investment” in Purple Bricks. Bit of an odd one, they seem to have taken loan notes (?) in exchange for advertising slots? Did I read that correctly? Never heard of that one before, but although it might well pay off, it does seem a bit desperate?

ITV remains on my “grabs popcorn” 🍿🍿 watchlist though, purely because you’ve gone and tipped it 😗

Good luck with this one.

They have a team that trades slots for equity or convertible loans. There are always voids and when there aren't, the unit price gets pushed up. Lot of channels and lots of ad breaks

Just watched 7up on ITVX, contemporaneous with the kids, just about.

What a watch.

ITV reported an increase in half-year profit, though it cut revenue guidance in its Studios arm. Group revenue in the first-half of 2024 declined 2.4% to GBP1.60 billion from GBP1.64 billion a year prior. Pretax profit jumped to GBP330 million from GBP45 million. It booked a GBP194 million profit on the disposal of joint ventures and subsidiary undertakings. CEO Carolyn McCall said: "Our digital advertising business continues to go from strength-to-strength and we saw a 17% increase in digital advertising revenue in the period, which contributed to the 10% increase in total advertising revenue. This was driven by strong viewing across our broadcast channels and ITVX, with a very successful Euros, a year-on year-increase in viewing of Love Island and a slate of great dramas." Looking ahead, the firm now expects revenue for the ITV Studios production arm to "be down low single digits" for the full-year. It had previously expected it to be "broadly flat". The downgrade is due to a "small number of key productions being contracted as executive productions rather than co-productions". "The change in contractual arrangement has no impact on profit but does mean we recognise less revenue this year. There remain a small number of contracts under negotiation, which may have a similar out-turn of lower recognised revenue, but the same profit if they are contracted as executive productions. In the revenue guidance for 2024, we have assumed that we will be the main or co-producer," the firm said.

Can't win them all, you all did well in Kier.

Some of ITVs rise is a combination of lack of sellers, share buybacks and a buyer.

There are richer less followed opertunities in FTSE250 and AIM that have both value and growth combined at reasonable value like MGNS...take a look at the balance sheet and YoY revenue and cash generation. There is less need to speculate. Others PFD, ALPH, AXL, CKS, and perhaps JET2 all reasonably valued despite being on recent highs and having revenue growth with strong balance sheets.
