For those who don't know yet, eBay is set to introduce a buyer charge in 2025. Hard to find exact specifics most likely still not fully entrenched but it's reported on my articles & talks (backlash) in the ebay sellers circle. They most likely believe the lower face value listing prices will look better & buyers more willing to pay a buyer service fee, compared to the overall combined price with no fees which will look higher than competitors.

It seems a little shortsighted, in the sense that sellers will need to take this fee into account when selling tight-margin products across multiple platforms inside and outside of eBay. But the money must come from somewhere to pay for no seller fees.

So if there is a difference between what the buyer pays and what the seller gets.....isn't that exactly the same effect as the sellers charge 🤷

I think eBay are screwed these days. Too many scammers, too high charges, too poor service...and too many free avenues like Marketplace.
