I was just reading an article in the FT about the huge transfers going on of private pension schemes into Insurance companies. These transfers must be profitable or they wouldn't happen so is there an OEIC or IT or ETF that would cover this sector. Any thoughts?

I tend to hold small amounts of life insurance companies directly, such as M&G, Phoenix, L&G, and Aviva, mainly for the divi's.

Busy doing nothing has got the right idea but don't forget to add Chesnara to the list.

I have Phoenix. M&G & L&G and not forgetting Chesnara in my portfolio, all pay good dividends

I suspect the margin is quite limited because there are several insurance companies competing for this business.

I also hold Phoenix & L&G but wondering what the risks are given the financial climate we seem to be moving into....people living longer, fewer workers etc?

What grabs the attention is the headline figure. Reminded of the old adage. Turnover is vanity, Profit is sanity, but Cash is always king.

Might well be that they are managing some of these scheme assets already.

I got a letter this week from LGEN saying that my DB pension had been transferred to them and they will be responsible for payments from now on.
Small scheme £400 million, 2500 pensioners.
