Exploring some multi asset options at the moment as part of a small rebalancing of my pf. This fund has caught my eye as one which leans away from the US and has more of a value bent. Very consistent performance and compares more than well vs HSBC for example. Apart from the fixed performance fee, which is probably not a dealbreaker, is there anything not to like? Anyone hold it or considered it in the past?

The Orbis funds were all the rage on this forum a few years ago because they offered a sign-up bonus to invest via their own platform. After a short period of underperformance everyone seemed to ditch them as obvious dogs. I see now the funds have done ok recently, so no doubt people will change their minds again.

I'd see the performance as the opposite of consistent - it looks like they had a few horrible years and then a few good ones;

They obviously did really well in 2022 but I imagine there would have been much less rush to own it in the earlier years.

It also doesn't look to be particularly low risk - volatility around the same as investing in 100% equities last 3 years.

Funnily enough it was tipped today in the Telegraph under the heading "The best 25 funds for your isa".

World Funds,
Orbis Global Balanced
"This multi-asset fund stands out for it's unique fee structure.
Investors only pay if the fund outperforms it's benchmark - if it underperforms, they get refunded. This should mean the management team is highly incentivised to deliver superior returns. Alec Cutler, the funds manager, takes a contrarian approach and prides himself on finding overlooked opportunities.

Charge; 0.5pc to 2.5pc performance fee
Cheapest share class; Standard
Five - year return; 74pc

It sits right in the middle for me alongside the Vanguard Sustainable 70% and RL Sustainable World.
A while ago someone on this forum posted about it (I forget who) and since then it is being used to replace the RL fund.

A good performer along with a good fee structure.

The recent performance has been very impressive despite the drag from fixed income. It seems like a sensible 2-year investment and could potentially achieve another 15-20% over the next two years if the momentum continues.

However, I have concerns about its flexibility, given it is a low-cost fund often means low-effort. This performance may have benefited from the current portfolio being in vogue, which could imply some luck.

On the positive side, I appreciate that it deviates from the index, providing diversification.
