I've no doubt what most WW1&2 servicemen would have thought of this cretin and his ideology.

The irony being I’m ex 1 para, continue to work alongside our armed forces as a contractor….

I don't put any store by this...

If the USA goes off in a huff and Russia takes Ukraine then the US won't get one bean back and Russia will have all the oil, gas and rare earths.

But it's clear from all the conflicting messages and utter lack of joined up thinking that Trump's team have not all sat down together an made a plan..

* Hegseth says maybe US boots in a peacekeeping force, the Vance says no, then backtracks.
* Rubio says Ukraine had been invited to Saudi, then it turns no one told Kyiv.
* Kellog appointed Envoy to Russia and Ukraine, then turns out it's Ukraine only and Kiltoff is going to Moscow, so there will be no coherent message between both.
* Then Saudi was going to be Peace Talks, now it's not its just about 'normalising relations' whatever the hell that means.

Definitiely an Utter Omnifvk. The plan is there is no plan. They literally had months to prepare this and could have banged a 'deal' down on the table on day One.

So the GOP don't know what they are doing so I'm pretty sure Apple News doesn't.

In other hilarity is Musk at a press conference spouting that there were people on Social Secuirty over 150 years old.... Not realising that their system is written in COBOL where, if the (birth) year isn't know it just defaults to 1875. Yet none of his 'genius' whizz-kid programmers knew this.

What an utter shit-show...It might be funny if it weren't so serious.

Russia and US hold peace talks but freeze out Ukraine

Top Russian and US officials met in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday in a bid to improve their ties and negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine.

https://www.itv.com/news...-but-freeze-out-ukraine

When two powerhouses negotiate the little guys get squashed and left penniless.

Ukraine should have negotiated or should still negotiate if it is to retain anything ! Though there is a danger that if it does try to, then the US will fire up Poland

We might end up with US troops in Ukraine and it being a the 52nd state slap in the middle between Russia and Europe (in the name of safety, security and peace) and its resources gets raped and pillaged with both the Ukrainians and the Europeans asking "please sir, can we have some more".

Europe needs to get a standing army.

As was pointed out years ago - "it is not the Arabs we need to worry about it is the Americans" only this time the word Arabs needs to be replaces with Russians.

Poland must be smiling.

I'm reminded of Churchill's words after Chamberlain returned from Munich..

Quote:

You were given a choice between war and dishonour

You chose dishonour and shall have war.

Hence why Europe needs an army and make its own decisions without relying on the USA for they have little to offer in terms of honor (just economic interests) AND why the likes of the UK are (perhaps should be were) from a historical sense, respected a bit more from the ME and SE perspective, for at least the people (general public not the ruling elite) of the UK offered a sense of honour, fairness and practicality in history

The only thing that is different now compared to six months or a year ago is that the US is behaving in a more honest and transparent fashion. The idea that any of this was ever to do with "self determination" and the Ukrainians is preposterous.

Ukraine was always a proxy between these two powers, with the US, as usual, pretending it doesn't have an empire and Russia beating its chest more vigorously than was anticipated in what it deems to be its own neighbourhood. Europe has been irrelevant throughout, as we should expect since it is politically, economically and militarily castrated. It cannot even control its borders, is in continuous economic decline and has leaders who cry.

Three years on and we have a lot of rubble and dead people. The previous US administration was too heavily invested, quite literally on a personal level for one family, to draw a line under it so it falls to the newcomers. Some of the pygmies that have thrown rocks in from the sidelines, like the UK, are engaging in some face-saving posturing, still wedded to the old narrative, which was fake all along. But that's smoke and mirrors, which no serious person is interested in.

In the final analysis, and for those who understand geopolitics and are realistic, Ukraine was always going to split at some point and that's what has happened, since neither of the two superpowers were willing to allow the other to maintain a puppet regime over the whole thing.

If you are in the habit of believing that Ukraine was a homogenous and politically viable country, then that is your first mistake and why you don't understand what has happened or is going on. It's a pity such things can't be resolved more peacefully in the first place, but that's how it is. They are at least round the table now, the people who matter, and the US side are not feeling the need to play along with fake stories which waste everybody's time. This is more honest and better. Gets to the point.

I doubt the Ukrainians are penniless. Zelensky is now a rich man and sorted for life, having played his part, and a lot of the corrupt cronies from that country have done well out of it too. The ordinary Ukrainians who want to be actual Ukrainians can return home to their smaller country, which will have aid pumped into it and have the opportunity to become more economically developed with the help of the US. The real shame is for all those who have died or been maimed already, but that's because the people who could make a difference took far too long to negotiate.

Apple says it is working to fix its speech-to-text tool after some social media users found that when they spoke the word "racist" into their iPhones it typed it out as "Trump."
