When all the UK retail banks are experiencing deserved increases in the volume of complaints (I have some inside experience of this on a global basis), it's surprising to see so many of them receiving glowing references. It just proves the point that they are largely all the same; many customers experience poor service from their bank, and many are very happy with that same bank.
Santander comes in for much criticism. It's still Abbey in disguise and suffers from the same poor service ethic, despite its customer service charter (seems they all have one these days!).
First Direct has received top marks for many years ...so why isn't everyone with them? ...and why is that not reflected at HSBC?
If you live South of the Border, don't bother with RBSG, because you will soon be with Santander ...no choice! I have been with RBSG for 10 years, and they've been pretty good, albeit they lack branches in London. I am extremely unhappy with this development and will not be moving to Santander. So, I guess I'm asking the same question. Which bank do I move to now?
