Portfolio awash with banks, but NWG fails to pass thru screening tests.
This is a pity as the dividend is better than cash yields.
Maybe one day, things will improve ?
For now the other banks will have to take up the slack.

See our inspirational Gov't has been selling NWG shares to crystallise losses.

I suspect Rishi will write off any losses via his family’s shiny new tax assessment.

Too soon? :)

I had to tunnel hard and long to retrieve this long-forgotten thread.

A pattern emerging here! Seemingly really strong results with improved everything and wallop, here’s a 9% drop in the SP. Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water …

I added more this morning as happy to accumulate at these levels.

Maybe due to the realisation that the government still own 46% and could really do with cashing in. This will mean a slug of shares being sold into the market which will affect the share price.

Your ‘gamble’ is basically… what price do you think the government will decide to offload… they could really do with the money. Or is it the recent trend on here… ‘the share price has dropped so it must be cheap’.

Until the Government offloads stock liquidity will remain constrained. Better liquidity will ultimately result in higher demand. Chicken and egg so to speak.

It’s more like “the share price has dropped by an astonishing amount on the back of really strong performance results so is likely to recover some, if not all that”. A 9% drop would normally be associated with fairly calamitous developments? Or massive profit taking?

The govt held the same stake yesterday as today. Why would the market suddenly decide this is about to fundamentally change? I think they can only sell <5% in any 12 month period anyway? Or do I have that wrong?!

…because the forensic accountants working in the market will be aware of something that none of us will get to see until after the event…or maybe it was priced for a better results. Your guess is as good as mine.

Markets are forward looking when pricing. Is the CEO's outlook negative? Already nearly 7 weeks into the new financial year. Mortgage lending is down. Investment banking activity globally is well down, lack of IPO's etc. Higher interest rate levels will increase consumer defaults.

I would have thought that a huge slug of shares entering the market will suppress the share price until the sale is completed.
