Professor Richard Betts just appeared on Channel 4 News spouting out climate catastrophe nonsense. Claiming scientific certainties where none exist.

Preceeded by a long piece on drugs in Sierra Leone.

Nothing like cheering people up with some positive news. I don’t see why either of these news items has anything to do with me, or why they are news items I need to be shown. The overall impression is always that the British viewer is somehow responsible for all ills around the globe.

It's basically a tiny minority of lefty liberal goons - sorry, intellectuals - talking to each other, and themselves. They are completely and utterly detached from normal British life and the concerns and interests of ordinary people. They also seem to think it is necessary to educate others about their idiotic tastes and views. See Dr Who and other forms of demented, out of touch "entertainment." Or the way black people - specifically - must be shoehorned into every television production, advert, historical drama, etc. They seem to have decided it is de rigeur for some reason, although it could just be a job creation scheme. Socialists are like that, they enjoy designating things in strange ways that have meaning in terms of their eccentric values, but bear no relation to reality at all. Like building new cities in the middle of nowhere, which nobody wants to live in or go to.

Ottmar Edenhofer ? Seems he is older than me and suddenly had his career turbocharged in later life. Not many do a PhD at age 38. Now some kind of chosen one he has done very well out of climate change advocacy.

If there is anyone left that doubts that the BBC is deliberately lying to the people to push a narrative using disinformation...

Surely Ofcom should take action - shut down their news services perhaps ?

The BBC is doing precisely what is expected of it by the people who are ultimately in charge of it. As is OFCOM. The government proved itself willing and able to completely shut down our society and economy when it suited. Shutting down the BBC would be nothing in comparison. It exists and behaves as it does because the government is happy for it to be so. Put aside all the rhetoric and you can safely assume that most of what is going on is supported by the government. If you're expecting truth, scientific rigor, consistency, fairness, the national interest and finding these things are consistently absent then it's probably fair to say that your expectations and theirs are different things.

It appears there may just be a problem charging all those new EV's. No shit, Sherlock.

But you can invest in one of the start-ups that will provide lamppost charging points. Sounds great.

Quote:

For instance, lamppost electric vehicle (EV) charging is expanding. A big advantage of repurposing existing lampposts is that cities don't have to dig in order to lay new cables

Except the cables that run street lights were specified for a few tens of kW of lighting in total. They were not specified for dozens of 10+kW EV chargers to be added to the load. So no, you can't implement this without digging up the cables and replacing them with higher capacity types.

Didn't the BBC think to ask that question? No, of course they didn't. That wouldn't fit the agenda.

The lamppost thing always makes me giggle. It’s seen as the simple solution by the general public.

If you lived in Sleepyville Village, then you could possibly have a couple on the lighting cct. But I’m not sure.

In Busyville Town, the load would pull the voltage down. I suppose you could put a massive capacitor in the cct the size of a tower block, that would help.

Think the silliest I’ve heard in the last week is a Labour MP’s solution to the flooding issue: “ we’ll plant trees”. FFS, trees go to sleep in winter and those that don’t have little need for water.

Can we get a bag full of MPs that actually know some shit?
