Every year end, Interactive Investor post the best and worst shares of the year.( they have just posted )
This year I am the proud owner of the dog, which is Anglo American.
I bought this share a couple of weeks ago when the share tanked and have no regrets because it is slowly marching forward.
You could have picked them up for below 1700 , now look at the price.
Every dog has its day, in Dec21 I again bought the dog which was LSEG for the knock down price of £69.02p they now trade north of £92.
It sometimes pays to buy the mongrel.

MKS on a forward P/E of 12. Years ago would have been P/E 20 when it was the darling of the city.

Not sure looking at a 12 month chart is the way to do it though. A longer view seems appropriate to me.

I wonder what is the biggest fall with the greatest subsequent rise ever produced by a stock ?

And to what extent does a fall of say 40% or more in share price correlate with the likelihood of bankruptcy and zero equity value ?

Esken has gone down from 300p to 1p.
No idea whether there is any way back from that though.

ASOS went from 20p down to 3.5p in about 2003 when their warehouse was across the
road from that fuel distribution depot at Buncefield and was cremated.

Then they recovered and went up to about £74 over the next 10 years.

Well it looks like Anglo American might be in line for a Crufts award.
BHP group have made an offer which jollied up the share price late yesterday.
The shares have done reasonably well this year and a dividend payment due soon into my sweaty hands .
My latest addition into the kennel club being JD Sports, I started buying in January when the share price tanked due to poor results .
I have added to my holding when the price drops.
The other day they announced they were buying an American competitor Hibbett (HIBB) they can be found on Nasdaq.
There are a few companies talking about listing in NY but JD have taken a different approach by getting their foot in the door by buying a minor player
Done a bit of research on Hibbett and apparently they have made a 269% return in 5 years.
