Certainly! The phrase “I have nothing to declare except my Genius” is attributed to the brilliant Irish playwright, poet, and wit, Oscar Wilde. Let’s delve into its meaning:

Literal Interpretation:
At face value, Wilde is humorously suggesting that he has no physical possessions or items to declare when passing through customs except for his own genius. In other words, he considers his intellectual brilliance to be his most valuable possession.
Imagine him standing at a customs checkpoint, confidently declaring that his genius is the only thing worth noting. It’s a delightful play on words!
Deeper Significance:
Beyond the literal interpretation, this quote reflects Wilde’s self-assuredness and unapologetic pride in his artistic abilities. He was known for his wit, flamboyance, and unconventional lifestyle.
By equating his genius with something tangible (like an item to declare), Wilde challenges societal norms and celebrates individuality. He refuses to conform to expectations and embraces his uniqueness.
Cultural Context:
Wilde lived during the late 19th century, a time marked by artistic movements, social change, and intellectual exploration. His works often explored themes of identity, aesthetics, and morality.
This quote encapsulates the spirit of the Aesthetic Movement, which emphasized beauty, art, and individual expression. Wilde was a prominent figure in this movement.
Legacy:
Wilde’s legacy endures through his plays (The Importance of Being Earnest, The Picture of Dorian Gray, etc.) and his witty aphorisms. His words continue to inspire and provoke thought.
Interestingly, Wilde’s life was tragically cut short due to societal backlash against his homosexuality. His defiance and wit remain iconic.

In summary, “I have nothing to declare except my Genius” is both a clever jest and a profound statement about embracing one’s unique talents and intellect. It invites us to celebrate our own genius, whatever form it may take!

Takes no Genius to cut and paste.

"Affirmation without discipline is the beginning of delusion."

Some may be of interest, but I disregard as I do not consider the likes of the Motley Fool to be financial journalism.

Sometimes I wonder whether French Tony is actually more than one person, each sharing the same login.

Either that, or occasionally the meds kick in.

One flew over the cuckoo's nest.

McMurphy has a criminal past and has once again gotten himself into trouble and is sentenced by the court. To escape labor duties in prison, McMurphy pleads insanity and is sent to a ward for the mentally unstable. Once here, McMurphy both endures and stands witness to the abuse and degradation of the oppressive Nurse Ratched, who gains superiority and power through the flaws of the other inmates. McMurphy and the other inmates band together to make a rebellious stance against the atrocious Nurse.

towards the end of the film McMurphy gets lobotomised and then...

Chief Bromden, seeing what Ratched has done to McMurphy, smothers him with a pillow in an act of euthanasia, and then breaks a window to flee from the asylum, fulfilling McMurphy's wish for him to be free.

I am not sure who you see yourself as in this movie but I really am looking forward to the end....

(and now I need to reblock... and save myself from your version of financial onanism...)

BBC News, West of England
A new free wellbeing programme is being launched to help men improve their mental health in Wiltshire.

Wiltshire Council is working alongside Wiltshire Wildlife Trust to support men aged 20-59 through nature-based physical activities such as hiking, woodwork and bush craft skills.

They will also learn wellbeing techniques including stress management and mindfulness.

Other programmes will run later this year in Trowbridge and Chippenham. Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, cabinet member for public health, said: "The programme will provide men with the knowledge and practical tools they need to improve their mental wellbeing. "Participants will be able to engage in activities that they enjoy whilst developing new skills and learning about the benefits of being outdoors.

"Having access to wellbeing techniques and advice will contribute to positive behaviour change, benefiting those who are currently struggling."Damian Haasjes, director of education and wellbeing at Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, said they regularly see the "positive impact" that connecting with nature has on people's mental health.

Mr Haasjes added: "The new outdoor men's wellbeing programme will build on our existing work and offer a great opportunity for early support and intervention with men who are struggling with their mental health."
