West Coast "cool school" of bebop jazz.
Both were junkies who spent significant time in jail for their habits...
Pepper died of a stroke, aged 56, in 1982.
Baker fell out of a window in Amsterdam, aged 58, in 1988...
Session pianist Carl Perkins (the other one!) died aged 29 of a drug overdose in 1958.
Bassist Curtis Counce died of a drug-related heart-attack aged 37 in 1963...
