I haven't had any reply from Ryanair after submittimng my claim by post and by recorded mail. I do agree that it is unfortunate that Ryan air are supposed to refund due to and act of god.
That is not my isse. My complaint is that they handled the re booking of tickets in a crazy mannor. It was impossible to get a ticket for my destination as they were issuing returns to any destination the customer requested. So my return to Birmingham was impossible as they had used up all the tickets to other customers who should have returned to their own destinations.
As it was when the volcano had settled, we were told that they could not fly us back for another 10 days. That is my issue.
My daughter was starting a new term at university. We had no option but to fly from Ibiza to Gerone with no idea of what would happen when we got there.
There was a coach at the airport put on by the local football team straight to Calais. It was double the price of the coach that left before us but we had no option. That and expensive motorway meals, top price Calais and Dover crossings, National Express buses home etc. etc. This is my issue. My expenses amounted to £850 for the two of us to include the extra nights at my hotel, economy meals and the additional expenses getting home. I can accomdate the few extra nights in the hotel due to the volcano but I cannot justify the extra expense on the additional travel costs due to the fact that Ryanair could not offer me a flight for a further 10 days after the volcano had settled.
Their handling of issuing return tickets was done in a panicsituation with no organisation or system.
