After giving PayPal details of a credit card I immediately report it as lost with my bank who cancel it although PayPal are not made aware. I use a separate bank account with a max £250 in it but signify this account as primary payment with PayPal with the credit card as back up .

This way PayPal are satisfied in respect of their terms but my risk is isolated as the credit card can not be used by them or my funds raided by fraudsters. In short I do not trust PayPal an inch and never will but do need to use them particularly if buying or selling on eBay. I am aware that trying to contact them for anything is a dead loss, don't bother..

Another tip is to use their mobile phone codes to make payments ie no access to your phone no payment made. This is actioned by authorising a setting within account settings.
