Sorry Harry, but I joined compartvely recently. Who are you? Many HTs on google/linkedin. Why should I follow you? What is your background and Unique Selling Feature?

I don't want to appear to be rude, just ignorant.

PS. I followed your procedure for revising a typo in a discussion title. It worked. Unfortunately I got adverse crticism for "changinging a title". C'est la vie. I see you got away wit a more fundamental name-change.

I posted about this recently on another thread, Harry Trout is a nickname.

I am taking a bit of a risk in keeping posting on a dedicated thread as some may view it as a tad self indulgent.

So I started this thread below today to explain the background and my motivation for doing it ........

Are Individual Portfolio Threads A Good Idea?

I'm hoping it might catch on and that others may start their own threads.

Cheers

Harry

Topped up today from cash:

FUTU Holdings at $138

Added to FUTU again yesterday at $122 on the market wide pullback this week in Chinese stocks listed in the US. FUTU is in my SIPP which I am building into my long term positions account.

My target for position trades is a doubling in share price within 5 years as a minimum (14.7% CAGR) and hope to outperform this. On FUTU's fundamentals this should be straight forward, the risk lies in the fact that it is a Chinese stock .....

For context, I started buying FUTU in January 2021 at $57 in small amounts and it remains around 0.5% of my portfolio for risk management.

Robinhood IPO next week ..............

Sold my Apple $AAPL swing trade today at $147.10, a cash profit of 16.4% in 49 days. I describe the buy trade in post 48 on page 3 of this thread.

Also sold my Microsoft $MSFT swing trade at $286.44, a cash profit of 11.2% in 90 days. I describe the buy trade in post 45 on page 3 also.

I was a bit twitchy taking these trades into earnings tonight and the red candles today persuaded me to take the profit and await further price discovery following earnings. Both stocks looked priced for perfection to me in terms of the earnings releases tonight.

These were my only 2 swing trades on the go and both were held in my ISA. I still have much larger holdings in my SIPP in both these stocks for long term buy and hold.

Nice to bank a couple of wins for my first two properly planned out swing trades. No doubt I will swing trade these stocks again ..........

Added an Amazon $AMZN share in my SIPP today at $3,331 on the earnings sell off.

If I've called it wrong I have "budget" in my GIA to buy another at lower levels today or next week.

I use my SIPP and GIA for position trades. I have my eye on Amazon for a swing trade in my ISA soon, when the swing low has started to base out.

For context Amazon is now 3.4% of my total portfolio. Vanguard All World VWRL has Amazon at 2.1% so I am slightly overweight Amazon. I find this a helpful context when I'm nervous about catching a falling knife ........

Hi Newbie, thanks for the question. I am completely out of both ISA swing trades in $AAPL and $MSFT but have larger position trades in my SIPP.

Regarding the 3 companies that you mention - to be honest at the moment I'm looking to trim my holdings rather than add. Swing trading around long term positions as an approach is quite consumptive of my time as I need to know each company quite well to form a quantitative view and set price targets.

Therefore I tend to research and invest in companies I know or like or use or preferably all three, this makes it more interesting to do the quantitative bit if that makes sense. The ones you mention wouldn't qualify therefore.

That being said I have a healthy watchlist of 20 stocks that I am interested in but haven't yet invested in. Of these I currently like the look of Disney, Google, Intuit, Square and possibly Charles Schwab for the brokerage business but haven't had time to research any of these properly yet. I had Square before, sold it and now regret that decision. I am watching Robinhood also.

Cheers

Harry

I am in Intuit (one of my top performers), Square (not too far behind), Alphabet (still building up).

Sadly went into Disney, then sold out most (sill have a foothold though) as wasn't moving as expected - Switched to L'Oreal.

Thanks for the updates and views
