So many negative answers from anonymous people - perhaps that says everything. The reality is that we have climate change targets to meet by 2020 and more has to be done to achieve those targets. Lack of liquidity in markets is holding back investment so the launch of the green bank by Labour was an encouraging boost to the environmental sector. However, more cash is needed and a Green ISA would be interesting but as already mentioned there would need to be withdrawal limitations.
To say that a Green ISA would not be a good investment though demonstrates a lack of knowledge. Renewable Energy is here to stay and is going to grow substantially during this decade and beyond. I have voltaic panels on my roof generating nearly 4KW of electricity, enough to cater for all my energy needs with excess going to the grid. Yes, we are having a good summer (which makes a change) but the system is still very efficient when the sun isnt shining. Then you look at waste management, and water management, and you can see why a green ISA offers exciting growth potential. Past performance has been nothing spectacular but I suggest that that is about to change. Where else would you put your money?
