Given the level of innumeracy in this country, IMO it's a big assumption to assume that information displayed graphically, is anymore accurate that data expressed in tabular form

Information displayed graohically is no more accurate than a table. Just easier for for a numerate person to digest. I guess most forummers are reasonably handty with graphs.

One graph is worth a thousand figures.

And don't confuse quoted precision with accuracy.

I am not learning much from the forum currently.

I don't appear to be teaching much either.

Maybe KL felt/feels the same.

Ennui can set in unless you see it as light entertainment.

I've been up and down the four corners of this big old world. I've seen it all and I've done it all. I've fought many a good man, and I've laid many a good woman.

IMO he got a lot right and a lot wrong. Rather than original thought he spent much time repeating others but then he had a journalistic background rather than a background of managing money.

I admit we crossed swords and he could always win on the written word where as with my experience I was able to add more value due to being at the coalface for many decades.

Face to face we could have spent may happy hours discussing the issues of Global Investment and understanding how markets work and how best to add value.

I think to much of his time was spend with the Forum and we all know how from time to time we need to take a break. I hope he is well and enjoying life.

Well I certainly miss him even though as a novice I didn't always understand what he wrote but still found much wisdom in it that was really helpful. I would usually quickly scan most of the posters comments until I found his and then use that as a benchmark.
Nowadays, I take a lot less interest mainly because I am tired of the almost constant negativity and gloating of the regular "I told you so" posters that seem to rush to put their comments in first and thereby stifle any further discussion as we are all tired of trying to express a contrary view that they will then do their utmost to belittle.

Your post made me laugh John (probably not the intention). A member who doesn't post complaining about those who do!

Agree with John Dickenson's original post. KL is certainly missed here by another novice who feels he has much to learn, and is keen to soak up wisdom from other posters. KL was the one I always looked out for.

As a former journalist he was excellent at writing in great detail about the theory of Investment but his practical understanding of markets and how they work was not so good.

We all miss him….he is most likely one of the few members who I could have enjoyed a chat over a few beers/coffee.
