Sounds like Jeremy Hunt's kinda guy. Sort of lib dem labour tory type of person. All the same shower.


They all belong to the 'political class' and have much more in common than which divides them. They move effortlessly between political parties, 'think tanks', and charities. If you 'meet the team' on the RF site, you will see David (Baron) Willetts at the bottom. The Tories are simply no longer the party of aspiration, many of them (and Labour) are very wealthy and have pulled up the drawbridge. They preside over an economy which inflicts very high marginal tax rates on those who work while simultaneously paying others not to work.

LTA impacted less than 1300 people at end of 2021/22 tax year according to HMRC. As is often the case reality is vastly different to social media chat and perceptions.

Look over a longer time-frame since it came out.
You will find that many people had been diverting monies away from pensions into other vehicles and structures over time - The money has to go somehwere !!
On the same token you will also find that it is a small percentage of the population who actually take advantage of the breaks offered by the government in the first place and it is they who get hit.
To give an example - the granddaughter of a friend who is at uni and funding herself by working part -time has already squirreled away a sizeable sum into a pension and LISA whilst the large majority of her friends are out painting the town red - or enjoying LIFE as they put it.

It used to be the case that only mugs & millionaires supported the Tories, looks like the millionaires are deserting them now

Stand easy. Hunt is considering raising the SIPP LTA, he's not likely to do this and cap ISAs.

I do not believe this statistic for one minute - if true I know 2% of them who exceeded in that year and listened to them moan!!
