Just received 2 emails "Invitation to Fundsmith Guidance Seminar - Corrected Link"
from some dude called Niall Allardice regarding inheritance tax and estate planning.
To reserve a place, please use this LINK.
One has to ask, is this a scam?
I won't be using the link, will you?

If it's this, it's genuine but I haven't had an email about it.

There is a Niall Allerdice working at Fundsmith.

Trying opening up the email address fully that it came from.

That should give you your answer.

For example email can be from John Smith but on full inspection of the email address it may be from joe7427.bhfg @ blah blah .net

This is genuine - I met Niall in person at a seminar in Cambridge recently and he is very good.

I went to a Fundsmith seminar (in their London office, not online) back in March and met Niall Allardice.
This is genuine - he runs financial planning seminars for FS.

Thanks for that, these days you never know who is trying to scam you.

Thanks Mark, I won't be taking advantage of their kind invitation.

What I find surprising, is getting the email in the first place.
Anyone who deals direct with Fundsmith knows Terry is always banging on about fraud and account security, yet allows a third party to contact you.
Not cricket Mr Smith.

Just FYI, assuming that you are a direct client of FS:

In August 2021 FS sent an email to direct clients introducing Niall as a private client director, specialising in financial planning.

If you do not want to use the link, all these webinars are recorded and you can access them later by logging into your FS account (click the My Account Menu, go to Guidance and you'll see past articles & seminars).

In general these sessions are not bad - I went to the one dealing with CGT and even though I'm au fait with CGT there were some points that I had not realised. And to be fair, there was no attempt to sell FS, it was pure guidance.

Hope this is of use!

Ian, I need to address a couple of points you make.

First, as others have noted, Niall Allardice (that's me), is an employee of Fundsmith. So Terry is not passing your details onto or inviting you to interact with 3rd parties.

With regards to receiving the email about the IHT seminar, that should have only been sent to investors who had 'signed up' to be notified of such events. I can look into why you received this email if you want but it can only be for one of two reasons:

1. You or someone using your email address signed up, or

2. We've managed to incorrectly enter another person's email into our database (somehow putting yours in instead of theirs, maybe a letter or two difference in the email address?), meaning you are getting these emails from me.

You might have recently received another about an event next week. If you want to email me, I will be happy to look into what's happened and make any corrections. Clearly, if you don't want to receive these emails its important that we correct things so they stop.

Kind Regards

Niall
