Looking at the yoy change in earnings for Apple and Alphabet.
Summary figures at bottom of each page:
https://www.macrotrends....nings-per-share-diluted
https://www.macrotrends....nings-per-share-diluted

Quite lumpy earnings per share growth yoy.

Alphabet
2010 to 2020: average 22%.
91% in 2021 (bumper year)
-19% and 12% last two years.

Apple
2010 to 2020: average 23%
71% in 2021 (bumper year)
9% and 0.3% last two years.

Growth in earnings appears to be slowing but share prices not.

You mean change in EPS.

Ever considered, Tom, that the share price may be right more often than you?

Go back thirteen months and you may have put off one or two readers from investing in the megacaps.
Other contributors have a longer history..

Everyone can make their own decisions. Go back 24 months and I may have prevented other buying before a large fall. All relative.

Earnings did go up about 90% from 2020 to 2021. Not just EPS - not that it would make a difference given the share split happened in 2022. But even if calculating growth in EPS during a year which has a share split, you would obviously need to account for this. Otherwise it would be a rookie mistake.

I own google and not selling. Huge moat business and one of the best plays for AI. Along with Microsoft which I also own.

Th amount of share buybacks done by google is huge and very supportive of share prices.

Yes, but long term consequences ensue from an entrenched position and my strong advice is to dismiss those who have a lot of certainty about the future: especially those with a one-note message: -they can seriously damage your wealth.

Reader, do you know Thrugelmir?

This is Thrugelmir talking down Apple:

Amazon, Meta and Apple report after Wall St. closes at 9 pm.
