The news by Ford and GM may pay off.
Stock on the move again.
If indeed the TSLA charging model becomes the standard (Blink seems positive), then the licensing and usage fee should provide a regular income stream and the company adds another bow to their arsenal of Cars and Batteries.

Its up around 8% at the moment today, still no where near its all time high but has being doing very well over the last few months.

I have to admit I assumed that once the legacy auto makers (Ford, GM VW etc) finally swung into gear with regard to EV manufacture Tesla would be swept away but this does not seem to be the case. It would appear that making electric cars profitably is a lot more difficult than some of these older manufacturers thought, almost all if not all of them are loosing money on every EV they make. Tesla and I think BYD over in China seem to be the only companies that can make any money doing it.

What are peoples thoughts?

Positive !
The state of Kentucky has just mandated Tesla's charging plug for state-backed charging stations !
The French want Tesla to invest in their country and offering subsidies !
Tesla offering access to finance to buyers (especially in China) !
Tesla lowering prices puts a strain on competition and takes advantage of first to market move !

I have been of the view that the vast network they have is their biggest advantage and this seems to (hopefully) coming to fruition - others will just end up paying Tesla a fee to access their stations rather than forking out millions to build their own.
Would I buy a Tesla - NO !
Would I buy an EV - Not yet !
But I would buy and hold Tesla stock - Added more since my post 20 days ago.

I'm extremely bullish.

The Model Y is well on course to be the best selling vehicle in 2023 (to emphasise, not just best selling EV but vehicle of any class).

The smaller Model 3 is due a refresh which will no doubt boost sales and the game changing CyberTruck is due to be launched this quarter which is likely to massively disrupt the best selling pick up truck market in the US.

Their annual unit sale growth over the last decade is upwards of 40% per annum which is quite phenomenal. They are on course to continue that trend in 2023. They are almost certain to be the first to achieve full self driving capability and rumour has it they are well on the way to developing a new car primarily designed for the roll-out of driverless robo-taxis which will revolutionise the way we travel over the next decade.

The only thing that may stunt growth is if they don't keep up the pace of building additional factory lines to keep up with demand. Plans are in place however to more than double capacity in their recently built Texas and Shanghai locations and there are plans to build new factories in Mexico and Europe (Spain has been suggested). Another location in Asia is also rumoured.

I've not even started on the inroads the company is making on the AI front, battery pack and solar business.

Share price is falling because of reduced sales in China (I have no idea about the rest of the world) and to counter that they are reducing prices and therefore profits.
A reasonable reason for share price fall.
Although Tesla is the leader in the market but in this period of wage growth not keeping up with inflation its profits should fall....as should Apples.
Brand awareness and the virtue waving the car brings may counter this.
Buy buy buy buy!! Not me mind, just the cult followers!!

Reuters reporting Tesla is scraping the new model 2 vehicle and just work on robotaxies instead. Musk has been on X to say Reuters are lying but did not give any more info.

The fall in both unit sales and reduced selling prices is hurting Tesla's cashflow. New models require capital investment. The business model that worked so well is floundering at the moment. The competition in the EV market is hotting up as well.

Following on from the approval of Elon's remuneration package, Q2 unit sales volume has beaten expectations.

This has led to 11 consecutive green days and and a 50%+ increase in the SP!

Q2 Earnings are due to be announced in a couple of weeks and more details on the Robotaxi are due to be announced on 8/8.

The 2023/24 best selling model Y (of any car, not just EVs) is due for a big refresh and photos leaked on social media this week suggests that it will be on sale by the end of the year which will give sales a huge boost into 2025. Hopefully the SP will go further north from here.

Down on the comparative period last year though. EV sales are stalling across all manufacturers.

As I said in another thread I am buying again - as well as the leveraged 3X stuff.

PerBears seeing Tesla as a car company
PermBulls seeing Tesla as an AI company

Tesla has probably mapped out more streets and likely to continue to so within their existing business model. Whereas someone like google needs to spend extra (outside of its normal business model or a peripheral aspect of it) to get this done.

If Robo-taxis do take off then with its satellite links and being FTM (with both) it will have an advantage.

India is already thinking ahead and considering what to do about and tacke Musks Starlink system otherwise it will be tied into it for a long time.

A charging network (plus other manufacturers using its network), a complementary communication network, coupled with Robo-Taxis can indeed be a lucrative outcome.

Whilst the likes of Apple (and other) may compete in the Robo-Taxis space, do they have the communcation and charging network ?

Musk did mute that Apple may be ahead in self-driving AI - hence I am back in Apple as well.

I thought Apple has scrapped the whole car and self driving project earlier this year?
