Was just alerted to this on Reddit and thought it worth sharing here.

The SPDR ETF (ticker ACWI) that tracks the MSCI All Country World Index had it's TER cut in August 2024 from 0.40% to 0.12%. Making it now cheaper than the iShares ETF that tracks the same index (ticker SSAC, and 0.20% TER) and the much loved Vanguard ETF that tracks the FTSE All-World (ticker VWRP and TER of 0.22%). All are listed on GBP/GBX.

Compared to the Vanguard ETF, that's 0.1% cheaper, for the MSCI ACWI index vs FTSE All-World index, which you'd struggle to split hairs between performance wise. Sure, it's ONLY 0.1% but hey, some might find this interesting/useful!

ACWI
Ongoing Charge (OCF/TER): 0.12%
Indicative spread: 0.29%

SSAC
Ongoing Charge (OCF/TER): 0.20%
Indicative spread: 0.1%

Spread seems to be almost triple for ACWI than SSAC, but if you don't buy too often and keep it very long time it can make up for the spread difference

Ah, yes, that may be a deciding factor if you're regularly contributing into it. But this should reduce if the volume of ACWI increases, which it might well do following the price cut.

It seems HL simply grabs the "indicative spread" from the last day's close, which may not be representative. It certainly doesn't calculate any sort of intra-day or long-term average, which would be more useful.
