Shame our nanny regulators ban such evil instruments in the UK.

In the small print "There are no assurances the Fund will be successful in providing the sought-after protection."

Measured in bitcoins?
Measured in dollars?
Measured in magic beans?
I'm confused.

Bitcoin literally has a market cap of zero.

A group of Chinese bank balances, however, has a cap larger than Hathaway...😏

That's where the actual wealth is.

Wouldn't be surprised if Trump strings em along for a few years, with a big fat sting in the tail.
... Well, if he doesn't get stung first...

Potentially the biggest news is that Elon Musk's looking into using blockchain to improve government efficiency. This could mean being able to track where every tax dollar's going – you could build maps of where it's being wasted, stolen, etc. Incredible idea – and one of the first real use-cases for blockchain.

This is the danger and opportunity. A lot of smart people working on blockchain technologies for years now. No real uses for it – just the belief that someone would find one at some point. And this might be the first of many.

But this possibly marks the point where fantasy meets reality. With a real use-case, it'll be interesting to see whether it makes sense to use Ethereum, or find a niche blockchain, or build your own ... If this is an early stage technology, current market leaders could be the Spectrums and Amstrads of this phase. One thing with Bitcoin: it's very slow.

What does blockchain bring to the party that a conventional DB doesn't? The challenges with controlling government spending are things like lack of accountability, a culture which tolerates waste, a lack of processes and systems to accurately record expenditure and politics (it's easier to drive pet projects and paybacks if no-one can track the money). The technology to track the money is not the hard part to fix.

A while back the UAE Police adopted Cardano's Blockchain - "The Dubai Police’s Cardano-based pilot project focuses on secure data management, providing a platform for sharing sensitive information related to criminal investigations. This innovative integration of blockchain technology ensures a high level of security, enabling collaborative analysis of forensic data without compromising its integrity."

Tamper proof in an area where corruption could be both tempting & lucrative.
