I can only hope Google gets a better return on their investment than Meta did with the Metaverse...

But I think that ad targetting was pretty simple and doesn't need an 80 billion investment to change the method but not the end result.

It whiffs of reinventing the wheel....

Huh?

Of course it needs investment, because your competitors will be using it and there is a risk of being out competed and thereby loss of business by the advertisers.

Spending on AI results in keeping those advertisers and increasing margins, because those ad spends are more bang for the buck. Consumers are more likely to part with their cash for better optimised ads using AI.

Please look into these things more because you seem to have some pretty strong views without any basis.
