Trump & Co have barely got going yet. Wait till they pick on Japan and Europe. Then the sparks are really going to fly.

Trump backs down a distance on tariffs with Canada AGAIN, after swearing at Trudeau in a phone call.

Did he expect Canada just to roll over and grovel? They were caught by surprise first time, but were prepared with retaliation the second.

I guess bullying and arrogance don't work so well after all?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c5y03qleevvo

There are also videos of Amrican products being cleared from shelves in supermarkets because no one is buying them. I can't see that being reversed. Some long term damage has been done.

This type of behaviour may work on docile US population but other nations don't have to put up with such shit. Every Western nation is quietly busy working out how to bypass America and disconnect from US supply chains.

Are we going to see this charade repeated every month for the next four years?

Meanwhile Apple announces $500 billion investment in US production to avoid sanctions. That's $500 billion of shareholder value they are now having to spend that they otherwise wouldn't. It's straight off their bottom line.

Maddness

Sir Kneel reaping the benefits of Brexit.

Which he has been fighting to reverse for years.

Hmmm..

Quote:

And of course, the UK will be free of the 25% tariff the President has threatened to impose on EU goods imported to the USA

Really? Where is that from? Not aware of Trump saying any such thing.

In general the UK adopted the same external tariffs as the EU, including on US goods. So why would the UK be spared?

Have you actually got a credible source for this....

We are not in the EU, so why would we be subject to tariffs imposed on the EU?

I think you can provide your own sources if you dispute the claims being made.

The other benefit of brexit is that we can always very quickly and easily adapt to the changing circumstances without needing 27 countries to agree with us. We could even discuss a nice trade deal. That said, most of what we export, such as services, don't appear to be in line for tariffs anyway. Yet.

Point is, we are in a great position to adapt to what is happening, assuming the goons running this country don't engage in self sabotage. You should be glad that the new US administration really likes your country and its people, and the opportunities before us, rather than whining.

Try to think like a realist and a winner.

It's Guido.....what do you expect?. Untrustworthy. Far right. Biased. Ignore.

Meanwhile, in addition to rowing back on tariffs, the FT is reporting today that Trump is having to rein in Musk's Doge as concern and protest mounts over scale of job losses.

Trump is making the US look silly, unreliable and uninvestable. Little wonder Buffett is selling out.

We wouldn't be subject to tariffs placed on the EU. Obviously.

But the claim is that we won't be subjected to the same tariffs that are placed on the EU.

Your link claims that we WILL be exempt. Once again, that is a false thing to claim with no evidence. The truth is we MIGHT be exempt, but we don't know yet. So, once again, a fake claim.

Here is a report about what Trump said.. He has specifically NOT ruled out tariffs on the UK.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZqWcmB1FTk

And apparently he has else where said UK tariffs ARE coming. From the horses mouth not some tin hat Guido blog.

https://www.cnbc.com/202...t-deal-is-possible.html

Don't you even read the articles you post? Maybe try that, huh?

PS Are you in favour of Trump imposing Tariffs on the UK?

Andrew the Pedant strikes again... which part of the "article" I posted did I not read?

You don't have any evidence to the contrary.

Gutted that the UK might escape tariffs and get a great deal - opportunities that Brexit presents.

Trump Derangement Syndrome over rides all other considerations.

You didn't watch the video of Trump actually speaking did you?

Are the clowns actual words not enough?
