There are two types of energy retailer - the ones now harvesting outrageous profits, like Octopus energy, and the ones bailed out by the Govt. .

I had an email recently from Octopus in which they said that they had never made a profit, and were not making one now.

Best not get too hung up on revenue and profit, that's why posters like Tom123 are so baffled by the "tech bubble". The concept some seem to struggle with is that profits beget taxes and the imperative is rather to avoid both for as long as possible. I would cite Facebook UK and any number of tech ventures.

Greg Jackson is foregoing his £150k salary and has never drawn a bonus. A Poundland Sergei Brin. But in lieu of a salary, Brin draws $90 million worth of zero-cost option shares every fortnight. Jackson isn't on that footing but reportedly has a 6% stake in the Octopus group, worth £200 million. The gestures are "nice" but do not impact on the real source of their fortunes (their stakes in their companies).

Umm..... so do you carry a mobile phone about your person?

Do you have a router in the house?

What's the difference.

There is no difference except each device uses different parts of the spectrum. the are all non ionizing examples.

I do carry the mobile it but i dont use it much and just keep it away from my body, not in my trouser pockets, dont have it near my balls, use speaker phone when needed and an air tube handsfree earpiece when i cant use speaker. I switch my wifi router off at night. My apartment is fully wired with ethernet so I use that as a preference. i have a earthing mat at my workstation. Im not saying i want to stop using all the technology but i try and mitigate what i can. i definitely feel the difference,

I would hasten to add the more devices you have and proximity its likely that your body is under more attack. Cant proove that myself but am convinced by a number of studies i have read.

If i have choice to have a smart meter or not i wont.

Aim I missing somewhere here?
Instead of a smart meter why not install a smart person?
Turn down your boilder, have a body wash in the morning rather than a shower, eat an uncooked breadfast, wash clothes before going to bed, dry clothes outside if it's warm and windy, switch off all electrical appliances and in Winter wear two jumpers, a fleece, thermal underwear and a woolly hat.
If you feel cold, run up and down the stairs for 5 minutes.
Also don't use your electrical kettle for tea and coffee.
Drink water instead.
Eat more fruit and raw vegetables.
I insist my family follows this regimen even during periods of low energy prices.

I remember many years ago getting a buzzing in my year using a mobile while in France in a place with poor reception. Ever since I have used them as little as possible.

Fruit, vegetables and water? Never touch the stuff. My contemporaries are dropping dead and yet here I am, surviving on whisky and tobacco.

In the making of The African Queen, Huston and Bogart lived on it and were the only two of the crew who didn't get horribly sick.
