I used to get several scam calls a day , trying to sell me kitchens, investments etc.
Since I got rid of the landline , haven't had one ...plus I've saved a small fortune not paying BY every month.

So how do you get your internet connection?

Virgin sell an internet only connection.

Like Dexi I gave up the landline
I use 2 phones.......... I have to do this for another reason and I sign up for stuff on the interweb with a single email that I don't look at routinely. That gets >1000 emails a month.

My life is relatively calm :)

Vodafone too. Indeed the way Vodafone structure things, the telephone service is presented as an optional extra you can add on to the broadband package or not. Not sure about other providers but I assume that'll be pretty much the norm within a few years as legacy POTS is (controversially) replaced by VoIP.

We're one of the few 'lucky' households in the wrong rating. We're a 'D' for some reason. Quiet village.10 rooms (excl. W/C, hallways, landings) albeit several now joined but only since the valuation took place. Yes it was a probably a drive past valuation, yes we are betwixt 2 smaller properties....

£150 refund hitting the bank tomorrow.....

We sometimes receive 2 a day on the landline phone.
I wish I had a button which I could press and detonate a devise which vapourized them. .

An article in today's paper regarding the poorest people unable to get their rebate because they don't have direct debit, personally I don't think that's the issue because I pay by direct debit and I haven't received a rebate mainly because my council is as tight as a submarine door and they are holding on to the money as long as possible.

Who has got their rebate?

I got mine on the 6th. £165 from my Council. I will transfer to my Energy Supplier's Account when I get my May Bill.

You are one of the lucky ones, maybe the Lindisfarne monks said a prayer for you.

Mine £150 on 06/05/22. Immediately transferred it to my energy account. Will be dong the same with our £100 Winter Fuel payments and £10 Xmas Bonus payments.

It was only when I was whinging on about not having received it that Ben's Mum pointed out that she pays the rates - not me. A quick dip into her account revealed it was just sitting there all on its own.

I get an occasional call to my mobile phone from a Stephen Hawking type of voice that goes something like this:

"You have an urgent outstanding payment owing to HMRC and a failure to immediately phone this number and make payment will result in the police being dispatched to your home..."

It makes me laugh every time.

My favourite though are the letters that the TV licencing goons still send me after all these years. They must've wasted a small fortune on them. I just toss them straight on to the fire these days without even opening them. They make decent kindling too.
