Lost my old work email address and tried to register a new email address using the same pseudonym but it appeared impossible and actually locked me out for a few weeks.

Will now be known as ‘L.P which i will endeavour to make obvious in my posts for a short while.

Thanks

I suspect if you emailed citywire / Gavin Lumsden and explained the situation they may be able to fix this for you.

All they need to do is change the e-mail address associated with your old profile name which shouldn’t be too difficult.

I have been trying to change my ID for years - still not achieved it.
So anyone who does manage it - please let me know how.
As many have pointed out I have been here for a number of years and thus many consider that I not a Newbie as such.
However I am still learning a lot as I go along.
On top, there are plenty of occasions where I get pulled up by an 7 year old who despite being surrounded by her adult guardians and elder siblings has no problems expressing their stance and views on matters. I personally am able to go along with this but the fact that my peers tend agree with them in the moment even though we may have had a good debate and agreed to the contrary beforehand does somewhat leave me a bit of Newbie at times.

That’s more difficult.

If you have a spare email address you could just register under a new name although it wouldn’t change your ID on any historic posts and there would be no way to know it was you unless you followed Prince’s example and chose a new ID along the lines of …formerly known as Newbie / no longer a newbie etc.

You might also want to clear it with citywire / Gavin Lumsden first - I did the same thing on a dating site and was almost kicked off the site but in the end escaped with a warning - the site’s owner(s) did not like people having multiple accounts on the site.

Have you tried accessing the account profile page associated with your original email address and making the change there? (You may have to close the L.P account as you have already used the new email address!)

How can I change my registered email address and update my personal details?

Access the profile page in the My Account section to change the email address we have registered for you as well as any other changes. Click update to confirm any changes.

How do I pick a display name?

When you first post a comment you’ll be asked to pick a name which other users will see against your posts. The choice of name is up to you, but it needs to be unique – and decent of course! Please also take care not to impersonate others.

However, it doesn't need to be the same as your username/email that you sign into the site with.

Contact support@citywire.co.uk if you have any questions or need to change your display name.

Yes… tried everything before signing up again with L.P with a different email address…and even then i could only ‘like’ a post and not post myself for a few weeks.
Not too concerned and everyone will know who i am so will continue as LP.

Now then… where are them so called ‘wealth preserver’ threads… ;-)
