I'm considering investing in Pershing Square. But I just have a general question regarding investing in a hedge fund via buying shares in an investment trust (or in this particular case, a Guernsey investment company). I understand that, usually, when you invest in a hedge fund that engages in short-selling, your potential losses if the short-selling goes awry are theoretically unlimited. Would that still be the case when you make the investment via the investment trust/company? Or would your losses, in this case be limited only to the money that you put in?

Limited to how much you have invested

PSH don't short shares any more, they will hedge through market bets with limited downside exposure. Have a read of their letters. I do think PSH is a good investment at a good price and hold a decent amount.

Wish they did short in times like this.

Many of us did buy before Christmas and should still be up 10 to 14 percent.

Hopefully we have reached PTF (Peak Tariff Pessimism). With rich right wing nutters in power this could go lower but US business always finds a way. The US economy will still be strong. Rates can also be cut multiple times.

Thanks for your reply ravedeath. And I will read some of their letters when I find some time. I had actually come across a news report where it mentioned that PSH were stopping shorting shares. But I haven't invested in a hedge fund before, so I figured I would check this point just in case they ever change their mind and decide to short a stock at some point in the future.

Universal Music could drive some upside here today with subscriptions up very strongly over 9%.
