It is something that will never, ever end. The demands to do more are limitless, to the point where the country becomes a heap of rubble and then the complaint will be that there is still more to do. And it is endlessly malleable. Wind turbines and solar panels will be condemned in the future as we find ourselves with millions of tonnes of scrap junk that needs to be disposed of somehow, probably landfilled.

This mostly isn't anything to do with the climate or environment but a mix of:

a) people substituting for the religion they no longer have in their lives;
b) the usual anxiety and existential angst, followed by a desire to "do something" (literally anything, no matter how little is known about the problem);
c) an affluent society full of bored, anxious, and guilt ridden people wanting to redeem themselves;
d) the usual grifting by all manner of people with products and solutions to sell, including those who sell newspapers, "scientific" modelling, policies, wind turbines, etc.

If these underlying issues can be better understood and solved we might move on from this period of insanity we seem to inhabit, and all live more peaceful and enjoyable lives.

I think we should all be grateful that Jonathon's therapy entails posting at length to this forum rather than acting in the world beyond. There are more harmful things than banging drums in an echo chamber.

Suck up the lies, kill the cows, shut down the farms, ban travel, lock people into LTN’s, there is a climate emergency don’t you know and some people are literally making a killing out of it.

Because we need to close down all of our coal fired power stations, of which a few remain, whilst India and China have built thousands of new ones between them and continue to do so. Apparently it makes sense and means we save the world... or, is it the usual case of follow the money, and our dopey elites being conned by religious dogma and grifting? Wouldn't wash in China, but we get PPE grads, lawyers, and other plonkers in charge. Like Rishi.

We have been here before with the Covid scam, tell the public lies through the MSM and especially the BBC. The BBC (which like the NHS) remains for too many an untouchable paragon of undeniable truth while it pumps out unquestioned lies and propaganda into the minds of the unthinking masses.

The refusal of the Met Office to accept the error of the Conningsby ‘record high’ is what tells you they are operating a scam. By denying an undenible truth which would hardly destroy their chosen narrative they reveal that they are not an organisation that has any interest in the truth. Their only goal is to serve their own interests. Hooking into the climate change narrative is great for extracting more funding for themselves - whether the narrative is true or not is irrelevent to them.
