I am a newbie considering buying abit of Bitcoin to start my journey
I am hoping to get some guidance from experienced members

What are the options in UK?
Google gave me Coinbase and I managed to create an account and pass the quiz
(& has a cooling period of 24 hours before you can invest)

Is Coin base reliable and are there any other suggested options?

I'm guessing here but this ETF might be a reasonable comparison ? Full replication, domicile Ireland, UK reporting status , £227M Market Cap. Can be held in ISA and SIPP. Over to forum members to add to this.

I notice our resident BTC shill hasn't posted anything about Trump signing an executive order establishing the bitcoin strategic reserve, I wonder why... oh maybe it's because they're not buying a single satoshi. They're just not selling the ponzi beans they have already seized from criminals (yet).

This is the funniest news I've read in 2025 so far.

I was about to, but you got there first, unfortunately with a disinformative post...

You missed this crucial bit from the Executive Order:-

"The Secretary of the Treasury and the Secretary of Commerce shall develop strategies for acquiring additional Government BTC provided that such strategies are budget neutral and do not impose incremental costs on United States taxpayers."

So they can sell gold to acquire more BTC, for example.

Some commentators think they will eventually issue 'Bitcoin bonds'.

And of course, Senator Lummis's Bitcoin Act is completely separate to Trump's EO, and would direct the US to purchase 1 million BTC if passed.

The Texas Senate yesterday passed its own bill, making the Lone Star state the first state to legislate for its own Bitcoin Reserve...
https://www.coindesk.com...ublic-funds-into-crypto

And the White House is today hosting the first 'Crypto Summit', on ways to make the US the crypto capital of the World.

edit:
The White House spokesman has just reiterated the difference between the Bitcoin Reserve and the Digital Assets Stockpile.

Reserve: will never sell BTC and will try to acquire more
Stockpile: will not acquire more shitcoins and may sell in the future

So, stop crowing with your FUD...

What I find funny is to examine where BTC has come in just four short years; the life of this thread which I started, to be precise.

From

Scam/Ponzi/Worthless/Magic Beans, etc.

to

the most powerful country in the World recognising BTC as the king cryptocurrency, founding a Bitcoin Reserve, promising to never sell and to acquire more, while its several states are also individually scrambling to get their own reserves.

It's difficult to imagine where we might be in another four short years...

Yeah in case the fad catches on....
Not because of its usefulness or value to society...
What a load of steaming fartcoin...

What I find funny is your lack of participation in the wider investing aspects of an investing forum

Once you've found the apex investment, what else do you need ?

I can't be arsed with endless threads of "I've got 2.9% of this, 4.3% of that, 5.3% of something else, etc. Am I doing this right? Please help..."

(and I do contribute quite a lot here about taxes, drawdown strategy and property, etc.)

The Day the World Changed...

"Bitcoin, the original cryptocurrency, is referred to as “digital gold” because of its scarcity and security, having never been hacked.
With a fixed supply of 21 million coins, there is a strategic advantage to being among the first nations to create a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.
The United States currently holds a significant amount of bitcoin but has not maximized its strategic position as a unique store of value in the global financial system.
Premature sales of bitcoin have already cost U.S. taxpayers over $17 billion."

Trump has signalled what the global successor reserve currency to the dollar is going to be...
